an [oomph] review. see and be seen.

just wanted to give you guys a peek into the see and be seen kit from Anastasia Beverly Hills. it is a four-piece limited edition set for the eyes and face and contains the following:
 - HydraFull gloss in plastic
- HydraFull gloss in heiress
- Illumin8 Eyeshadow Duo in on set
- Tinted Brow Gel in caramel

the kit provides shadows and glosses in colors that create my perfect day look...a natural eye with bright pink lips. however, the shadow pigment is rich enough to create a dramatic look as well. paired with the red gloss, you could create a nice
evening look.

there are also benefits to using these products. clinical studies showed an increase in skin hydration after one hour of wearing Illumin8 shadows. after four weeks of use,
skin appeared firmer and smoother.
after four weeks of using the HydraFull gloss, people saw an improvement in the texture of their lips and reported that their lips were hydrated. click here for more details.

the see and be seen kit is only available for a few more weeks and can be yours for only $44. ($80 value)
(buy)

on set duo (champagne shimmer/gold shimmer)
wearing champagne shimmer from liner to brows, gold on the lids.
lightly dusted for subtle color here, but keep layering
for a more dramatic look!
plastic is straight-up pink while heiress leans toward red.
the glosses are thick, but worked well on my dry lips.
 hydrafull gloss in plastic.
the glosses are true to color...what you see is what you get.
as it should be!

beat the heat.

the summer heat really makes it difficult to get dressed in the mornings. not wanting to put on anything thick or long-sleeved or fitted, i tend to reach for breezy tank tops and loose-fitting jeans. simple and unfussy but with a few fun accessories like my trusty leopard heels and this cute clutch
i got for my birthday.

my dad cringes everytime he sees these jeans. he can't believe i wear them out of the house. granted they've gotten much worse over the years...the strings that used to cover my knees have been severed, now leaving big gaping holes. add to this my sloppily rolled cuffs. what is he talking about?
they're finally perfect.

only a few more days to enter my june giveaways for a free pair of glasses from firmoo and an anastasia of beverly hills lash genius. i know the firmoo giveaway has a bit more requirements than normal, but all it takes is a facebook account (if you have one) and a quick blog post about the giveaway...you can even take all the info from my post here.

star studded.

years ago, when the economy was booming, there was always a party to go to. some of our clients threw the most extravagant holiday parties while others had casual office gatherings.
i didn't mind stocking up on dresses because i knew there
would be an occassion to wear them.
even though we don't party like we used to, i'm still glad for my collection of dresses because i know i'll have something to wear should an occasion arise. well, imagine my surprise when i planned for weeks to wear this dress only to find that it wouldn't zip up. i was left scrambing for something to wear.
i guess after two minis, things don't fit like they used to.
i figured i should go through my collection and see
what still fits.
luckily this one is stretchy and doesn't have a zipper.

been having these $5 mocha freezes...
could this be why my dresses don't fit anymore?

an [oomph] review. bobby glam hair extensions.

every girl dreams of having long luscious locks. as a kid,
i used to put my long pants on my head and pretend it was long hair. (seriously, i have pictures!) so, i was thrilled to have the opportunity to try bobby glam's triple weft full head hair extensions. bobby glam has a variety of extensions from clip-in bangs and face framing fringe to layering and blending wefts to ponytails and full head extensions...
all made of 100% human hair.

the triple weft full head extensions comes with seven pieces - three wefts of hair per piece, giving you more hair with less clips. in other words, triple the density with the same number of pieces. the fitting guide was easy to follow and clipping them in was simple and fast. these photos were from the very first time i tried them. i was going to re-do them perfectly before showing you, but i thought you could see and learn
from my trial and error.

the instructions say to start at the nape and work your way up. after inserting all of the clips, i realized i started too low which left a big jump between the extension and my real hair. i could have started higher or even left out the first clip.
tip #1: check the length and placement after each clip.

without extensions (left) & with extensions (right).

my hair was already styled and curled before using the extensions making it hard to curl and blend the extensions with my own hair. the extensions didn't hold the curls as well, but i think i was being cautious not to overstyle or burn them, too.
tip #2: insert extensions then style as you normally would.

a full head of extensions was heavy at first, but after a short while, i didn't notice the weight at all. the clips were also very comfortable and i didn't experience any tugging or pinching.

overall, i loved the full locks. it was exciting to have this kind of length and volume. even though a full set isn't something i would use everyday, i can see myself using a few clips just to add some length or volume. however, i am definitely going to rock the full set on my next girls' night out for a super dramatic look. if you ever wanted to try extensions or are looking to add oomph to your look for a special event, i would recommend bobby glam hair extensions.

if i didn't tell you...
would you have known that i was wearing extensions?

all business.

a work outfit utilizing a bunch of old items:
  • my one and only favorite pencil skirt.
  • sometimes you find a gem at f21...this top was one of them. maybe it's the ruffles. maybe it's the round buttons. people always comment on it,
and i always feel good in it. win.
  • first bought these shoes in brown. they were so comfortable, i bought it a few months later in black. unfortunately, they are a bit more stiff than the brown.
  • needed a briefcase type bag to hold my folders, notepads, tape measure, and camera when i go to a jobsite. white isn't the best color for
construction sites...but neither is this outfit.

drop it like it's hot.

yes, it's the shorts again.
i seriously love them.
pro'lly cause they're more dressy than denim.
and they're not that hot because:
1) they're shorts
2) they're pretty thin
what is hot is this shirt.
eh. win some, you lose some.

headed to the beach after work for some stand up paddling.
gotta love summer.

stuffed.

stuffed is an understatement...i ate all weekend. surprisingly, i didn't pick up my dslr camera once. now i have no pictures
to show you, but it was nice to just enjoy the moments.
here's what i did and what i ate...

surprise birthday dinner party: good wine and huge spread of cheese and crackers, perfectly cooked steaks and potatoes, asparagus, and a chunky salad of cherry tomatoes/corn/cucumbers.

minis' father's day lunch: we stuffed ourselves with chips and salsa and enchiladas and sodas till we could eat no more.

saturday dinner with my dad and sister #1: korean bbq plate lunches from a restaurant my dad used to take us to as kids.
kal-bi, mandoo, meat jun, bbq chicken and all the side dishes.

sunday dinner with my dad and sister #2: chinese dim sum, noodles, and crab.

a super old leather vest. probably my first ever leather purchase. i used to layer it over things, but there isn't any room for layering anymore. does wilson's leather still exist?

(pretty bow ring c/o bobby glam)
(leather vest, wilsons (faux); skirt, f21 (similar))

two great giveaways going on this month...

an [oomph] review + GIVEAWAY. lash genius.

now that summer is here, we will be hitting the beach and doing outdoor activities as much as possible. this often means that i will go from work straight to the beach or park, and the last thing i need to worry about is runny makeup. i found a gel eyeliner that works, but now it's my mascara that gives me grief.

lash genius by anastasia of beverly hills is my solution. it's a colorless topcoat that waterproofs any mascara, making your favorite mascara waterproof when you need it to be...
cry much at movies?
shed a tear at weddings?
know that you'll be out and about on a rainy day?
or have watery eyes like me?

simply apply over your mascara and be worry free for the rest of the day. i was skeptical, because even mascara that claims to be waterproof runs sometimes. after trying the product for myself, i was quite surprised by the results. here's what i did:

applied my everyday (maybelline great lash) mascara and let dry.

applied Lash Genius to right eye only and let dry.

THE TEST: SWIPED A WET FINGER ACROSS EACH EYE.
the [right] eye with Lash Genius swiped clean.

the [left] eye without lash genius swiped with runny mascara.

although lash genius may not be a necessity for everyone everyday, it is a product that is great to have on hand and one that i will turn to when i need a sure thing.
